The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), through its Lagos Zonal Directorate 2, has achieved another significant milestone in its investigation into financial dealings involving Nestoil Limited, Neconde Energy Limited, and a consortium of lending institutions.
In the latest development on Monday, October 19, 2026, the commission successfully recovered an additional $40 million in favor of the affected banks. This recent recovery boosts the cumulative amount recovered over the course of the investigation and the active repayment process to $100 million.
The ongoing probe underscores the anti-graft agency’s commitment to tackling complex corporate financial transactions and securing financial assets belonging to banking institutions. The recovery process forms part of a broader effort to resolve outstanding debt obligations and financial irregularities linked to the corporate entities involved.
EFCC officials noted that the recovery efforts remain ongoing, with investigators working alongside key stakeholders to ensure full accountability and restitution. The success recorded so far highlights the effectiveness of targeted financial investigations in safeguarding the integrity of Nigeria’s banking sector and broader economy.
The EFCC reaffirms its dedication to pursuing financial crimes, enforcing compliance, and restoring funds to legitimate lenders and institutions.
